Amazon rainforest
Amazon rainforest which is the largest forest in world covers area of 60,00,000 square kilometer and is home of 2,50,44,772 species of insects, birds, plants, fishes, mammals, amphibians and reptiles also hold some mysteries which today are gonna be revealed like wooden bird Potto, Walking trees, 70 feet snakes, Amazon tribes, Boiling river and The lost city of Z.
The wooden bird
There are many animals who use camouflage technique to protect themselves or use it for finding prey. Some animals change their color and some animals mix themselves with nature we have found a bird from amazon with same qualities name of the bird is Potoo. Also called as wooden bird as it has a ability that it can hide itself in a branch of wood.
Potoo usually don't fly during day and hunt in night. It is an insectivorus bird. Potoo's in day are perched on broken branches with half eye closed and if they see a danger they immediately freeze themselves in a position that it look like a broken branch and use its camouflage to hide themselves from predator. It is mainly found in Amazon basin.
Walking trees
Yes, you read correct there are walking tree in amazon rainforest but they don't walk as you think They walk with a slow speed with a pace of 5 cm per day. Name of the tree is Walking palm also called Cashopona. They move or walk to towards the place where there is sufficient sunlight and grow there. They are mainly found in amazon rainforest. The tree move due new roots growing towards the sunlight and replacing old roots. They take 1 year to only move 20 meters.
World's largest snake
Till now we have found around 450 species of snake in amazon and world's largest snake alive Green anaconda is also found in amazon only. According to scientist it can grow till the size of 30 feet. But is green anaconda really the largest snake ?, the answer is no There was a snake called Titanoboa whose skeleton was found recently and it was of size 42 feet, which is larger than green anaconda.
Local people claim that they have saw an anaconda of size 160 feet and with size of mouth around 6 feet. Now lets talk about fact Percy Fawcett a British geographer and explorer of south America also claim that he saw a 70 feet snake and shooted it. Percy Fawcett believed that the jungle was full of mysteries and has many hidden animals inside it.
Amazon tribes
Amazon is not only home of animals but of human's too. There are around 400 tribes living there from 100's of years. They usually have settled around river banks. Some tribes are connected to the outside world but some are totally unknown of outside world and are very skilled in hunters, they used handmade bows to catch animals and fish and they also use spears, axe. They also grow food like fruits, vegetable, corn and beans on very fertile land. And there are various believes that there are some tribe which are very tall and with blue eyes.
Boiling river
After so many dangers of amazon you can't even drink water peacefully because there is a river in amazon which is literally boiling. The name of river is La Bomba it is a tributary of amazon river. It has a average temperature of 45 to 100 degree Celcius and 16 feet depth.The river kills anything which enter it due to high temperature. The river is boiling due to the fault-fed hot spring. The earth has hot water inside cracks and faults inside earth.
The lost city Z
There was a lost city which was so rich that its wall were made up of gold and silver it was called The lost city of Z it was in amazon rainforest and one person Percy Fawcett was behind the city. Yes, its the same Percy Fawcett who saw titanoboa and other mysterious animal like spider with 6 feet long legs as me mentioned by tribes in amazon.
In 1921 he started his exploration for the city but due to heavy rain he had to stop and return but finally in 1925 with his son Jack Fawcett and his son's friend started the journey. After 5 months he wrote a letter and send letter through locals to his wife and told that he was too near to the city and will find it too soon. But after few months suddenly disappeared around 100 people tried to find Percy but nobody ever found him nor return from there. And the mystery of city Z is still a mystery.
